5,870,087 | Entitled, “MPEG decoder system and method having a unified memory for transport decode and system controller functions”
Denial of Defendant’s Motion to Dismiss for ineligible subject matter under § 101.
Systems and methods of performing video decoding in an MPEG decoder system which includes a single memory for use by transport, decode and system controller functions.
The court concluded that the claims are directed to decompressing digital video using a single memory. The court found this was not an abstract idea. Despite the absence of an abstract idea, the court went on to find that there is no genuine risk of preemption to any future research.
